How could anyone think they could stroll into a police station with a gunshot wound and expect to get help with no questions asked? Then you get pissed off when we start asking those questions?
Giving fake names and addresses didn't work for long, when we ran the license plate of the vehicle and got the real information. I didn't believe that he took the bullet in the top of your foot from a drive-by. What were they driving, a black hawk? I tell him that wound is consistent with the one usually inflicted by someone who you owe either money or drugs to and ask him the real story. Now he's not talking at all, and his friends have all stopped answering questions. Finally the GSW victim says "I'm dyin yo!"
They didn't like it when I pointed out the city that the shooting took place in has two large hospitals with excellent trauma centers and they drove 15 minutes in the opposite direction to bring this upstanding citizen to our office. They REALLY didn't like it when I called that city's police department and gave them all the information I had. In fact they didn't like it so much they left before the ambulance could arrive. Twenty minutes later, we got a call from the state ambulance dispatch center who said a party matching the description just showed up at an ER over 25 miles away. We in turn notified the city where the shooting took place. A few minutes later, we got a call from the police in the city housing the hospital with our friend. Now they're getting involved.
For not wanting to alert the police, they sure did a bang up job. Now 3 separate police departments were in on the investigation. Dumbasses.

It goes to show how many dumb folks there are. Wish we could find the gene that causes that and start a stem cell program to eradicate it.
