Don't test me

I've been experiencing a problem of late with victim cooperation. We can't put the bad guys away if you don't cooperate. I have a low tolerance for stupidity as it is and this just makes me want to put up with less. I threw a "victim" out of the station this afternoon after he refused to work with us.

The officer working the case, who is new to the job and quite unqualified, was getting frustrated while taking a statement and kept asking the guy the same question - what's the value of the stolen items. The guy kept answering "not much." After the conversation circled round and round for the fifth time, I finally stepped in because I was tired of hearing it. I asked for a dollar amount and got the same answer - "Not much."

"Sign it and get him the hell out of here, now," was my instruction to the new jack. I'm not going to play these fucking games. You don't want to help us to help you, you deserve to be a victim.

I feel the same way. To often I have to take reports from people who are not really victims.
