Graveyard shift

Apparently, people think it's very weird that I like to park and sit in cemeteries when things get boring on the midnight shift. I don't see why. I think they're just wussies. It's so peaceful, especially when there's no other humans around. Plus, I dig the historical aspect.

Occasionally, I'll get out and walk around. Rarely I'll find a homeless person camped out. I say rarely because most of them must be scared of the graveyards too.

I'm not a big fan of graveyards, even though I know it's the living that will hurt you and not the dead (at least that's my believe).

I know you have this thing with the "paranormal" and sometimes I try to figure out if it's real or just imagination. (I know you've told me a story or two or three and I don't doubt any of them).

If it's comforting to you, relax and enjoy the history that goes a long with it while relaxing at the cemetery.

Whatever you do, no matter where you go, please stay safe.

Been to more than a few cemeteries in my time...Arlington will ALWAYS remain #1...it has a LOT of history.

Magnolia Cemetery (in Philly) where my folks are buried as famous people from that area of the city going back to Henry DISSTON...the SAW maker (doubled as a metal part supplier to the Union during the Civil War).

Been to Gettysburg several times.

I even came across a forgotten cemetery in NJ that had Revolutionary war era people buried there.

I find it fascinating.

But, just in case you've just watched a marathon of George Romero flicks...keep the engine running and the gun nearby...lol.

Stay safe.

Bob,

You're a Philly boy?

I hope you can tell me that you no longer live in the area. It's beyond awful, although most of So. Jersey is still fantastic (it's where I grew up). Now I'm just a few minutes from Philly and can't wait to get the hell out of here and move to Tennessee.

Speaking of cemetery's (Battlefields), have you ever been to Antietam in Maryland. It's a sobering experience, and standing on Sunken Road, aka "Bloody Lane", was a chilling experience.

And if you've ever walked across Burnside Bridge at Antietam, you can see see cannon holes that were fired at the bridge. One hell of a site. And if you haven't gone, you really should take a trip there one day, and be sure to check out Dunker Church. It's fascinating.

FF, my apologies for throwing your thread off topic.

Yeah, born & raised in the great NE!
(2nd, 7th, & 15th district...LOL)

And I've been over Burnside's Bridge (damn narrow) and viewed Antietam from "the tower"...

YES, we also stopped by Dunker Church...amazing site.
All thanks to by brother-in-law Ron who lives in Falls Church.

Glad to know NJ is still mostly "intact".
(which exit???)

LOL, that always cracked me up.

My exit off 42 was 8 (Blackwood-Clementon Rd) No exits off the Garden State Parkway or the A/C Expressway unless I was headed to the shore.

(nice exit...lol)
Spent a lot of time there as well as in Oaklyn (is the Fountain Room club still in business?)
And yes, I used to hang with Randall & Cook (from the radio)
I know MOE is bored to tears with this crap...sorry, buddy.

Bob,

I grew up in Berlin, and a lot has changed. Where I lived, we were surrounded by peach orchards and they're long gone.

I really don't know about the Fountain Club, as I never hung out in Oaklyn.

Back in the day when I went clubbing, we'd go to a place out in Blackwood or head out to Philly, but mostly we hung out in Berlin at a place called The Beer Nut.

I still go to Jersey often, as my best friend lives in West Berlin, which was across the bridge from where we grew up, and I still go the shore on occasion. My oldest brother still lives in NJ and is an EMS for Berlin, and he's also a FF.

I'll miss it all soon, though (not where I'm at now, which is right outside of Philly). I'll be moving to Tennessee and just about a stone's throw away from Georgia. I just can't get there soon enough.

And my apologies also for throwing your post off topic, FF. I'll shut up now.

Cemeteries are great spots to get some work done. It's one place where some citizen won't amble up and ask for advice on a ticket he received. :)
