Helpful advice from Ofc Friendly

The burden of proof lies with you when it comes to motor vehicle insurance. No, I won't hold while you try to wake your insurance agent up. I don't want to talk to them. I want to see the document here, in my hand.

PS - The basis for a "false arrest" doesn't include you disagreeing with the charge. Screaming it at the top of your lungs isn't going to spook me and cause me to run away.

Used to be a time (back in {Philly) when I carried all the "data" (license, insurance and registration) in my wallet...and I NEVER lost my wallet...ever.

Nowadays, we're instructed to carry the registration and insurance IN THE VEHICLE.
I can sort of get behind that...provisonally-speaking.

MY problem with that, is people reaching into the GLOVEBOX...!
(not a good move when you've been lit up and stopped for hinky driving beahvior)
Ditto for the center console.

Also, IF the vehicle gets stolen...then the perp's got MY insurance and reguistration data in HIS hand (not mine..or Off. Friendly's)

Better to have the person turn the vehicle off, step out and have the data IN HAND to surrender to an officer to do a check on (and issue verbal or written warning or a citation).

But I'm from the ANCIENT era...LOL.
(and Greek chariots had NO gloveboxes...go figure)

Stay safe.

I got stopped on my way to work. I had right on red but as I made my right hand turn, the light turned red.

It was a motorcycle officer who pulled me over and there was barely any room on the highway for him to get to my passenger side.

I turned off the engine, my hands on the steering wheel, and my license, registration and insurance ready to go.

The officer didn't lecture me and I didn't whine or cry. I thanked him (I was wrong) and told him to be safe.

It was a lesson learned.
